KIRRAnet (Kn)

During the 2022-2023 fiscal year, Kn had a budgetary spend of in excess of $35,000. The annual budget requirements for Kn are expected to taper off, as the community is established and most of the Kn projects have already been completed.

At a detailed level, Kn is responsible for the delivery of underlying communication, security and computing services to the community. All of the infrastructure used by Kn is provided by KIRRAutility (Ku).

Some of the detailed project works that Kn has already delivering includes:

Communications - NBN satellite data connection (45 Mb/12 Mb) is provided for Internet, with a (low cost) 4G LTE fallback, that comes online automatically after hours;
VoLTE - Voice Over LTE and Wi-Fi via our Telstra repeater providing full strength voice service and data service within the community space and buildings;
KIRRAnet 2G/3G/4G/5G - in the next 12 months for the community, visitors and ag services.
Security - A feature of our security implementation is data disruption for unrecognised mobile devices within the KIRRAnet (Kn) network area.
Video and Audio surveillance - roll-out is complete with KIRRAcivic (Kc) and Kn able to view and be alerted to humanoid activity around the community and perform loss protection surveillance.
2Gb Ethernet Backbone - a 750 meter long, 2GB ethernet backbone has been run along the axis of the property. This will be expanded as the community expands, to a total length of approximately 1.5 Km. This is a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) facility. The power is used to provide additional access points and other services, such as security.
Ethernet Over Power (EoP) - All buildings within the Kirra Community have an access-point for high-speed Ethernet available. This service is provided by Ethernet over Power. The end point for this service is our satellite and 4G communications facilities.
Wi-Fi network access points - have already been established around the community to enable Internet via our Satellite NBN connection, and for the provision of a number of other services. These Wi-Fi connections run along the 2 GB backbone.
Data Storage - in excess of 30 Tb has been provisioned for the capture of analysis data, together with a number of pooled Cloud-based data facilities.
Microsoft 365 subscription - Office 365, SharePoint online, Microsoft Teams, Azure and Microsoft exchange.
Weather & Environmental - monitoring and condition logging and reporting, including adverse weather warnings to the community members.
KIRRAtv - has been deployed with more than 50 years of movie viewing (non-stop 24 X 7) with over 10,000 movies from 1927 to current. There are also more than 100 popular TV series. This service is available to all community members for free from 4pm - 1am Sunday to Thursday and 4pm - 3am Friday and Saturday.
Non-Cash Token-based Fiscal System - In collaboration with KIRRAcivic (Kc), Kn is introducing a non-cash token-based fiscal system to make trading between community members easier and allow community members to self-serve community services, without the need for physical cash.

KIRRAnet (Kn) is responsible for the security and surveillance of Kirra community property. As at November 2022, the following services are scheduled for deployment by Kn:

Radar Perimeter - non-contact detectors are to be deployed around the community to detect humanoid intruders regardless of environmental conditions.
Electric Fence - An advanced Electric fence and wired sensors has been deployed to protect the content within the community perimeter from wildlife.
Sensory system and Alarm - is to be deployed with remote control and communication capability. This facility extends the remote panic and emergency system which can be used to summon assistance in any major life threatening or incapacitating event, which is further supported by the AMAS registered GPS EPIRB device which will send an emergency beacon alert to the federal government monitored rescue service incorporating police search and rescue, paramedic and fire (including rural fire service) responses.
Autonomous Security Zone - This zone is the southern-most end of the community property. As an autonomous security zone, the Kirra AI computer is used to monitor and track intruders in this area. This is part of our research project.
