KIRRAkitchen (Kk)
KIRRAkitchen (Kk) has a focus on feeding the people and nutrition.
Providing a fresh, healthy and nutritious diet falls to KIRRAkitchen (Kk). Catering at community events is also within the Kk remit. Bulk purchasing of specialist items and seasonal produce that isn't grown on the farm for the community is also the responsibility of Kk.
Kk provides additional food-science based functions, such as food preservation, storage and advice on what to grow for KIRRAag (Ka).Â
Kk is run on a roster-based system and is run by Community citizens. 3 meals are day are planned, and they are provided as a buffet style facility at set hours. This allows the community to eat together, while individually taking care of their own dietary requirements and preferences.
External guests and visitors to the Kirra Community are encouraged to join us in the Kirra Kitchen at mealtimes to enjoy our produce, cooking technique and our community facilities.
It is Kk's responsibility to ensure that food is available to suit the dietary needs of the Community Members, and that food is prepared in a manner that meets the needs of the Community. Kk can provide cooking classes in a variety of styles to both Community Members and Visitors to the community. They are also responsible for special community events such as Christmas, Birthdays, Weddings, Parties and anything else, that requires a get-together.
There are a number of specialty devices and machines that allow exploration into specific culinary styles such as molecular cooking techniques like Sous Vide, and other "Heston" style methods.
